Private tutor in Adelaide, Australia

Education

I earned my Bachelor of Intercultural Studies where I majored in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I then earned a double Diploma in Management and Human Resources Management. I am also a certified Executive Coach. In addition, I'm a Cultural Intelligence (CQ) advanced professional.

Experience

I am an experienced, qualified intercultural professional with 20 years of work in education, the arts, and social services and experience in Hong Kong, Macau, and China. I currently conduct individual coaching, mentoring, and workshops for individuals and teams. These bespoke workshops are designed to meet the needs of my clients. This skill is transferable to tutoring. Through my networking and client base, I have an understanding of various industries and how learning and education are applied. Industries I am particularly familiar with are education, tourism, water, wine, defence and engineering, exports, finance, and agribusiness. I have conducted workshops for the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia, Flinders University, and TAFE SA. I have 20 years of experience in Hong Kong tutoring English to adult professionals as well as secondary and primary school children. During that time, I trained and managed a team of international English early childhood education teachers in Hong Kong as Head English Teacher. I wrote the English curriculum and coordinated between English-speaking international staff and Cantonese-speaking Chinese staff. I have conducted Cantonese and Mandarin workshops for beginners including management teams and Australian university students preparing for educational exchange in Hong Kong. I'm currently conducting culture and Mandarin language workshops for management, coaches, and players of the Port Adelaide Football Club to prepare them for annual games in Shanghai. They have initiated the game to be played in China each year and I have been doing language and culture training with them since 2017. I am Business Development Manager and Cultural Advisor for Chinese Language Culture Network Adelaide a not-for-profit organisation supporting overseas students by connecting them with business and helping them develop suitable skills for employment, placement, and volunteering opportunities. I enjoy being a tutor because I love helping people achieve their goals. I love being with young people and understand that students have different learning styles. It is most satisfying to see students have that sense of achievement and relevant interest in their studies. I offer decades of experience and responsibility in successfully creating programs and workshops to meet the needs of my clients. It is important for me to keep in touch with upcoming generations and have some valuable input in their training and preparation for future leadership in our country and overseas.
